FAQ
We offer meditation sessions based directly on the words of the Buddha, aiming to deliver these teachings authentically and accurately. This includes both Samatha (calmness meditation) and Vipassanā (insight meditation). I also provide Dhamma talks and facilitate discussions for those interested.
A mixed between meditation and Dhamma talk in one session is also possible. Session types are 1 on 1, Couple session and group session.
Instructor Dave do also provide Daily free session, 8:30–9:30 AM at Washington Manor Park. About 30 minutes Dhamma talk and 30 minutes meditation.
30 minutes. I find this duration ideal because it allows time for initial instructions and guidance, meditation practice, and a brief discussion afterward to understand your experience, feelings, and provide further guidance.
Yes, we offer remote sessions at a discounted rate for those who live outside the San Francisco Bay Area but would still like guidance and meditation instruction.
Yes, provided that travel expenses such as flights, transportation, accommodation, and compensation for my time away from regular sessions are covered.
For optimal guidance and personalized attention during meditation, I recommend no more than 5 participants per session. However, this isn’t a strict limit—I am open to accommodating larger groups for meditation and Dhamma talk discussions. Currently, I don’t have a specific maximum participant limit in mind.
Yes, sometimes it matters. We begin with simple, respectful questions that help me understand how you are arriving today. These questions are general and methodical, not intrusive. The aim is to choose the most helpful instructions for you. If you wish to share more and ask how to work with specific states, you are welcome to do so.
No. People of every background are welcome. Meditation is universal and depends on your sincere effort, not on religious identity.
Wear comfortable clothing. Avoid intoxicants, and over-stimulation beforehand. Make sure to have proper rest, so you don’t feel drowsy during the session. For remote sessions, find a quiet place where you can sit without interruption and place your device at a stable angle. A chair, cushion, or folded blanket is fine; comfort and stability are more important than any particular posture.
Water, a light layer if you tend to feel cold, and a small notebook if you like to capture insights. Everything else is optional.
In the San Francisco Bay Area by instructor Dave. He also provides free session daily from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Washington Manor Park, San Leandro. Instructor Aleena teachs near the Oregon–Washington border by arrangement.
Yes. Beginners are very welcome. Experienced practitioners are also welcome. Instruction is tailored to the person in front of me, so you will receive what is helpful for your level.
The instruction is grounded in the Buddha’s words and delivered in a straightforward way. There are no required rituals. We focus on training the mind, understanding experience as it unfolds, and developing wholesome qualities for person’s welfare and happiness.
We look at practical signs such as steadier attention, fewer hindrances, brighter and calmer feeling tone, more clarity, and greater equanimity. We also notice how practice supports daily life: better choices, kinder speech, and a mind that is less easily shaken.
Follow-ups are booked as regular sessions. Brief clarifications by message or email are fine when reasonable. You could also have follow ups during Instructor Dave’s free session. If there is no people it functions similar to 1 on 1 session. If you need deeper help, we will have to schedule session together so an instructor could give you proper attention.
Full payment is taken at booking. You may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your start time for a full refund. Within 24 hours, fees are non-refundable. If you arrive late, the session still ends at the scheduled time. No-shows are charged in full.
Booking is done through the “Schedule session” button. Or you could contact us for assistance.
